COCKLESHELL CHALLENGE 22

RMA Gig Club represented the RMA-TRMC at Eastney Cruising Association, Southsea in The Cockleshell Challenge
raising funds for the Royal Marines Charity on Sunday 22nd May 2022.

Covering 7.2 nautical miles the course passed Lumps Fort where the Cockleshell Heroes of WW2 trained for Operation Frankton, the December 1942 raid by canoe-borne British commandos on shipping in Bordeaux Harbour.

The RMAGC came 2nd in their class with a mixed crew, claiming their first silverware since formation in 2019. The event raised £545.94. Thanks to ECA for hosting and a big thank you to Perry Stowell and the RNRM Gig Assoc for the loan of Trafalgar.
